Radiators are the central cooling system for the engine. Hot water is pump through it by the waterpump and then cooled off by the fan. The water is then recirculated back through the head and engine block to keep the engine operating at the correct temperature. Radiators can become blocked off to the flow of coolant by becoming clogged internally due to coolant breakdown as well as external fins being blocked by external debris.
