Excavator parts can be bucketed in several categories:
The undercarriage consists of the tracks and track components including the top and bottom rollers that the tracks fit over, the sprocket and final drive at one end of the tracks, the front idler, track springs, and track tensioner at the other end, and the track chain and track pad.
The cab sits on top of the slew ring, swing gear, and swing bearing that allows the operator to rotate the cab and arm side to side. An excavator's cab is enclosed by a Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS) and contains components that enable the operator to safely and comfortably work the machine all day.
The excavator boom is raised and lowered by a set of boom hydraulic cylinders. The boom is attached to the arm otherwise known as the dipper or stick, and uses another hydraulic cylinder to move the arm towards or away from the cab.
The arm is attached to the bucket which has a bucket cylinder attached to enable the scooping motion.
The bucket itself has replaceable bucket teeth designed specifically for any type of excavation job.
